About
Experimatch is a platform that simplifies the process of matching people who are interested in participating in experiments with experimenters who run those experiments. Some of the challenges that experimenters face are: Publicising an experiment to potential participants Reaching out to a variety of potential participants, with a distribution of characteristics, avoiding a biased research group Effectively pre-screening potential participants Easily keep track of status of applications and applicant details Some of the challenges that potential participants face are: Accessing a variety of experiments in a consolidated manner Confirming their applicability to experiments Filter experiments that meet their preferences (e.g. physical location, excepted compensation) Experimatch helps both parties to overcome the above challenges by providing a secure, flexible and intuitive platform for experimenters to publish experiments and potential participants filter and apply to experiments as they wish and see fit.
How does it work
An experimenter publishes an experiment by providing general information with regards to the experiment (e.g. title, description), more specific information that should be of interest to a potential participant (e.g. location, duration) and defines any pre-requisite criteria from a list of standard available criteria. Only registered users can publish an experiment; registration is free. A potential participant searches for relevant experiments in a certain location (e.g. city), potentially filtering further by various options (e.g. compensation type). Upon noticing an experiment that seems relevant, the participant indicates his interest by applying to the experiment. Only registered users can apply for an experiment; registration is free. As part of registration, the participant will be requested to fill in a basic questionnaire -- this questionnaire will be used to validate that the participant meets the pre-requisite criteria to the specific experiment that he applies for. The participant’s answers to the questionnaire will be stored as part of his profile and going forward, will be used to filter out non-applicable experiments. The relevant experimenter receives an email updating him that an application has been made, together with the participant's name and email address. The experimenter can then approach the participant directly and take it from there.
About us
Dr. Gil Gonen Yaacovi
Founder and the brain behind Experimatch
With a bachelor degree from Haifa University in Psychology and Philosophy and MSc and PhD in Psychology from UCL, I designed and executed many experiments. After spending weeks in designing and coding an experiment, I found that it is just as difficult to recruit participants. I decided to create a platform that will make it much easier to do the match making between experimenters and participants. It’s a win win win situation – the experimenter, the participant and science!

Co-founder and the technical support
With more than 13 years in the IT industry, working with products from Telcom software, web software and performance management software, I had no choice but to help my wife Gil with her brilliant idea to create a platform that will allow researchers to easily find potential participants, and for people who want to contribute to science and maybe earn an extra buck on the way, to find interesting experiments to participate in.
